Daniel
The Faithful Exile - God's man in Babylon, interpreter of dreams, and revealer of the times of the Gentiles and the coming Kingdom
Daniel was likely from a noble or royal family in Jerusalem, described as having "no physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand." As a teenager, he was selected for the king's service due to his exceptional qualities and noble bearing.
"But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way." - Daniel 1:8
Throughout his long life in exile, Daniel maintained his dignity and integrity. Even in his 80s, he was described as having no corruption or negligence found in him, demonstrating a lifetime of faithful character that earned respect from multiple kings and empires.
Daniel lived through one of the most dramatic periods in Jewish history - the Babylonian exile. Taken captive as a teenager in 605 BC, he served in the courts of Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, Darius, and Cyrus, witnessing the rise and fall of empires while maintaining his faith in God.
